How Much Does Silfra Snorkeling Cost?

The six main tours — what you pay for
| Tour | Price | Duration | What’s included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fissure (meet-up) | $127 | 3–5.5 h | Drysuit, guide, 30–40 min in water |
| Fissure + Photos | $143 | 3 h | Drysuit, guide, underwater photos, small group |
| Lava Tunnel Combo | $192 | 5–10 h | Drysuit, guide, Raufarhólshellir tunnel walk, Reykjavik transport |
| Reykjavik Pickup | $213 | 4.5 h door-to-door | Drysuit, guide, hotel or port pickup, photos |
| Silfra Diving | $280 | 3–5 h | Drysuit, guide, 18–20 m dive (cert required) |
| Golden Circle Day | $295 | 10 h | Drysuit, guide, Geysir, Gullfoss, Þingvellir, small coach from Reykjavik |
Why the spread?
The $127 tour assumes you drive yourself to the Silfra meeting point and park at P5 (small parking fee, about 1,000 ISK). You meet the guide there, get suited up, and snorkel. The rest of your time is spent on transport, briefing, and changing back.
The $143 version adds professional underwater photography — the guide takes shots of you between the plates and delivers them to you later. Small groups, same location.
The $213 Reykjavik pickup tour costs more than the meet-on-location options because the operator arranges transport from your hotel or cruise port, drives you out to Silfra (about an hour), waits for your tour, and brings you back. That is a lot of logistics. You save time and the hassle of a rental car, and you get photos included.
The $192 lava tunnel combo and $295 Golden Circle day are full-day activities that happen to include Silfra as part of a larger itinerary. You are paying for the additional attractions and guide time, not just Silfra itself.
The $280 diving option is for certified divers only (or divers with ~10 logged drysuit dives). You descend to 18 metres and get a very different view of the fissure walls and the geology below.
If you are in Reykjavik and have flexibility, the $127 meet-up is the cheapest entry and the best value if you have a rental car. If you do not have a car or want door-to-door service, the $213 pickup tour costs more but saves hours of travel logistics.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in the Silfra tour price?
All tours include the drysuit, undersuit, gloves, hood, and a certified guide. Some tours (photos, pickup, combos) add extras like underwater photos or additional attractions. Entry to Þingvellir National Park and the guide ratio are also included.
Is parking included?
No. If you meet on location at P5 car park, parking is about 1,000 ISK. If you book a Reykjavik pickup tour, parking at your hotel or cruise port is included.
Why is the pickup tour so much more?
The operator arranges hotel or port pickup in Reykjavik, drives you roughly an hour to Silfra, and returns you afterward. That is 2+ hours of drive time and logistics. If you have a rental car, the meet-up saves money. If you do not, the pickup is worth the difference.
