Can I Bring My Phone to Silfra?

In short: Not in the water. You cannot hold a phone in a drysuit (thick gloves, buoyancy issues). Leave it in your gear bag at the shore. The good news: most tours include underwater photos. GoPro on a mount is usually allowed.

Drysuit gloves are thick and designed for cold, not touchscreens. Buoyancy from the drysuit also makes holding anything tricky. You cannot safely hold or operate a phone in the water.

The workaround: most tours include professional underwater photos. The Silfra Fissure Snorkeling with Underwater Photos ($143) includes them free. The Reykjavik pickup ($213) also includes free photos. Guides take pictures with underwater cameras and deliver them to you after the tour.
